How are my transfer credits evaluated?

Transfer Credit Evaluation

The Transfer Credit Unit reviews course descriptions from the university or college undergraduate catalog. The Transfer Equivalency Self Service (TESS) system shows how credit from other institutions will transfer to WVU. When a course at your previous institution matches a WVU course, we assign that course a WVU equivalent course number. Courses that do not have a direct equivalent, but are accepted by WVU, will be marked as accepted transfer courses (or open credit).

Appeals

Students who transfer credits to WVU from a West Virginia institution may appeal decisions on how credits were evaluated within one semester of transfer. Please review the Transfer Admissions section of undergraduate course catalog for appeal instructions.
