Log in to the WVU Portal

The WVU Portal is your gateway to online resources at WVU, including many required to complete your enrollment steps.

To log in to the WVU Portal, you must first claim your account.

Pay the Academic Deposit

The academic deposit saves your place in our incoming class and allows you to continue the admissions process. The academic deposit is fully refundable if you submit the cancellation form by May 1 for students enrolling in the fall and December 1 for students enrolling in the spring.

Important: You must pay the academic deposit before moving on to further important steps.

Submit Additional Documents

If you were admitted based on unofficial transcripts, or transcripts that did not show your final grades and graduation, you will need to provide final official documents.

Request an I-20 or DS-2019 (Certificate of Eligibility)

Refer to the link in your admission letter to request an I-20 or DS-2019. Use your WVU Login to upload the necessary documentation to request your I-20 or DS-2019.

Complete Pre-Arrival Orientation

You will be notified via email from International Students and Scholars Services (ISSS) on how to complete your Pre-Arrival Orientation.

Apply for Housing

First-time freshmen and transfer students with fewer than 24 credits: WVU has a First-Year Live On Requirement. After paying the academic deposit, apply for housing in a WVU residence hall.

Transfer students with 24 or more credits: You are not required to live on campus and may choose from University Apartments, off-campus housing and residence halls.

Choose a Dining Plan

Everyone living in campus housing is required to purchase an on-campus student dining plan. Students living off-campus have the option of purchasing an off-campus student plan.

Reminder: You need to complete your housing application before choosing a dining plan.

Complete Health Insurance Waiver

All international students are required to have health insurance coverage. You will be billed for the WVU Aetna health insurance plan unless you opt out by completing the student health insurance waiver.

Complete New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation will introduce you to WVU and Morgantown. You also will work with an academic adviser to finalize for your first semester classes.

In addition to your main orientation, International Students and Scholars Services (ISSS) will email you about check-in and international student activities.

Travel to the U.S. and Arrange Airport Pick-Up

You are not permitted to travel to the U.S. more than 30 days prior to your program start date (first day of classes). Once you have finalized your travel arrangements to the U.S., if you need assistance with airport pick-up, ground transportation services are available.

Pay Your Bill

Spring 2025 new students: Your first semester charges will be available in WVU MyAccount (via WVU Portal) in late fall. If you owe a balance you will receive a billing notification and payment deadline in your MIX email.

Fall 2025 new students: In early July, your fall semester charges will be available in WVU MyAccount (via WVU Portal). If you owe a balance, you will receive a billing notification in your MIX email. Payment is due August 1.

Tip: Tuition payment plans are available to break up your semester's tuition and fees into smaller, more manageable installments.

Move-in

Welcome home! If you are living in a WVU residence hall, details for move-in will be sent to your WVU MIX email. If you are living off-campus or in University Apartments, contact your property manager for move-in information.

Choose a First-Year Trip

Start your college experience like a real Mountaineer. Our optional Adventure WV First-Year Trips are peer-led, adventure-based programs that will prepare you for life at WVU. All trips take place in June, July or August. Registration opens in February 2025.

You must pay your academic deposit before registering for an Adventure WV trip.

Apply for Scholarships

You are automatically considered for WVU scholarships if you are admitted by the scholarship deadline — August 1 for the fall term and January 2 for the spring term. You may also wish to explore other scholarship opportunities with an EducationUSA adviser in your country.
