The WVU Portal accesses your WVU (MIX) email account, DegreeWorks, financial aid and more. Academic advisers and units may use MIX email exclusively for communication.
To log in to the WVU Portal, you must first claim your account at login.wvu.edu (you only need to do this once). After claiming your account, log in at portal.wvu.edu.
Upon your admission, your college transcripts are reviewed. In your WVU Portal, go to DegreeWorks to see your courses that already have equivalencies and courses that may need submitted for review. If you have NOEQs, submit a Transfer Equivalency Review Request for each course.
Please directly connect with your academic adviser about your credit evaluation. You may also receive a transfer credit evaluation email from the Office of the University Registrar to your MIX email.
To register for your first semester at WVU, you must meet with an academic adviser by email, phone or in-person. Only your adviser can lift your registration hold for you. To get started, contact the transfer academic adviser for your college/school or program.
The 2025-26 FAFSA is now available to all students. Our FAFSA priority deadline is March 1. We encourage all students to submit the FAFSA. Our school code is 003827. The FAFSA is required for Federal and State aid programs.
There is no separate application for transfer merit scholarships, but for scholarships consideration you must be admitted by January 2, 2025 for the spring 2025 term and by August 1, 2025 for the fall 2025 term.
All official documents required to support merit eligibility must be received by January 2 for the spring term and August 1 for the fall term.
You can review, accept or decline aid through the WVU Portal. Aid adjustments are posted in the WVU Portal. Acceptance of scholarships and aid is non-binding – you forfeit your award if you cancel your application or attendance.
Students who plan to live in a WVU residence hall and/or participate in an Adventure WV Trip are required to pay the academic deposit.
The academic deposit is fully refundable if you submit the cancellation form by May 1 for students enrolling in the fall term and December 1 for students enrolling in the spring term.
If you are transferring fewer than 24 credits: Apply for housing in a residence hall. WVU has a First-Year Live On Requirement.
Transferring with 24 or more credits? You’re not required to live on campus and may choose from University Apartments, off-campus housing and residence halls.

Everyone living in campus housing is required to purchase an on-campus student dining plan. Commuters and those living off-campus have the option of purchasing an off-campus student plan.
NSO registration for fall 2025 admits opens in mid-spring. Watch your MIX email for a registration announcement. Program dates and details will be available when registration opens.
All students enrolling in 6 or more credits are required to have health insurance coverage. You will be billed for the WVU Aetna health insurance plan unless you opt out by completing the student health insurance waiver.
When you complete all courses at your current college/university, request that your current registrar forward us an updated official transcript showing your final grades. The WVU Office of Admissions will accept official transcripts from your college registrar via Parchment, E-Scripts, National Clearing House or officially sealed envelope mailed to:

Spring 2025 new students: Your first semester charges will be available in WVU MyAccount (via WVU Portal) in late fall. If you owe a balance you will receive a billing notification and payment deadline in your MIX email.
Fall 2025 new students: In early July, your fall semester charges will be available in WVU MyAccount (via WVU Portal). If you owe a balance, you will receive a billing notification in your MIX email. Payment is due August 1.
Tip: Tuition payment plans are available to break up your semester's tuition and fees into smaller, more manageable installments.
Welcome home! If you are living in a WVU residence hall, details for move-in will be sent to your MIX email. If you are living off-campus or in University Apartments, contact your property manager for move-in information.
These steps are strongly encouraged for new students.
